Dr. Arif Alvi took office as President on September 9, 2018, after being duly elected in a democratic process. Until a successor is chosen, he will continue to carry out his duties as president.
President Alvi recently returned to Islamabad for his usual presidential duties following his formal visit to Lahore.
Fawad Chaudhry, a former minister, congratulated President Alvi on serving five years in office. He commended the President for handling challenging circumstances skillfully and restoring dignity and respect to the office of the presidency.
