Ramiz Raja advises Iftikhar Ahmed to consider retiring.

The former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, has voiced his reservations regarding Pakistan’s performance in the 2023 Asia Cup, particularly in light of their loss to India.

Iftikhar Ahmed, a batsman, had a late start to his career and should consider his options, especially when facing spinners like Kuldeep Yadav, Raja said.
Additionally, he berated Pakistan’s batting approach, claiming that it places too much emphasis on aggressive play, similar to that seen in Twenty20 games, which is detrimental to Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket.

Raja stated that the bowlers needed to be more aggressive because their efforts were only average. Setting slips and bringing fielders up to the batsman were two things he emphasized.

Raja also questioned the selection procedure, arguing that the captain and selectors needed to be more aware of the players that were available and adjust the team as needed.
Raja made these remarks during Pakistan’s 10-wicket loss to India in the 2023 Asia Cup. Pakistan’s place in the competition is uncertain as a result of this loss.
