PCB Releases List of Three-Year Men’s Central Contracts

By securing a three-year central contract deal with its elite players, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently declared a significant development in Pakistani cricket. This agreement, which will last from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2026, has a significant impact on both Pakistan’s national squad and the country’s overall cricketing scene.

Since it formally establishes the partnership between players and the cricket board, the central contract system is an essential part of professional cricket. It provides financial security and incentives while outlining the terms and conditions under which top players will represent their nation. Based on a player’s performance, experience, and position on the squad, these contracts are often categorized into various categories.

25 cricket players will receive a historic contract this year that includes a share of the ICC earnings. The red-ball and white-ball national contracts have been combined to evaluate players based on their capacity to win games in a fair and open selection procedure. To encourage justice and openness in player selection, the central contract committee proposed this resolution.

Four categories are created from the list of players, each with a unique set of financial incentives and benefits based on their performance and standing in the cricketing community. The players’ contributions to the team and their general worth to the cricketing community are intended to be reflected in these areas.

Category A: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi

Category B: Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Imam-ul-Haq, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan

Category C: Imad Wasim and Abdullah Shafique

Category D: Fahim Ashraf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Ihsanullah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, Salman Ali Agha, Sarfaraz Ahmad, Saud Shakeel, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shan Masood, Usama Mir and Zaman Khan
