By defeating Bangladesh, the Pakistani hockey team earned their second victory at the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, in 2023.
Pakistan initially suffered a loss in their second group game when Bangladesh scored from a penalty corner in the 19th minute to take an early lead. Afraz, who was a key component in Pakistan’s 5-2 triumph over Bangladesh, helped Pakistan to tie the game at 1-1.
Pakistan regained control after the comeback with a string of goals. In the 40th and 43rd minutes, respectively, Shahzeb Khan and Mohammad Imad scored goals.
Bangladesh scored their second goal in the 46th minute despite Bangladesh’s efforts to cut the deficit. Sufyan Khan, though, increased Pakistan’s lead with a strong flick from a penalty corner, making the final score 4-2 in Pakistan’s favor.
