At the Chak 214-1 exploratory well in Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab, The Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan’s largest oil and gas exploration company, has discovered a considerable amount of gas. This discovery was notified to the Pakistan Stock Exchange by OGDCL, which manages the Mari East Block (100%).
Owned by OGDCL, the Chak 214-1 well was drilled to a depth of 1,851 meters. They discovered gas flows of 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) and 1.31 mmscfd, respectively, during experiments in the Dunghan Formation and Sui Main Limestone (SML). This is the first discovery in the Mari East Block, making it significant.
