Deepening China-Pakistan Cultural and Sports Exchanges during the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou

According to Hussain Haider, Pakistan’s consul general in Shanghai, “the upcoming 19th Asian Games, scheduled to take place in the dynamic city of Hangzhou from 23 September to 8 October, is poised to become a significant catalyst for deepening cultural and sports exchanges between Pakistan and China.”

The 19th Asian Games have drawn attention from around the world with over 12,500 competitors from 45 nations expected to compete in a variety of sports. The competition promises to be an exciting spectacle that will highlight the exceptional abilities, tenacity, and cooperation of competitors from all backgrounds.

The Consul General announced that Pakistan is sending a sizeable delegation of 262 committed officials and gifted athletes, both male and female, who will compete in 25 different sports, including cricket, hockey, swimming, badminton, martial arts, and many others. Pakistan is renowned for its prowess in e-sports, squash, and kabaddi in addition to its national obsessions, hockey and cricket.

The Consul General spoke on the need for Pakistan’s sports business to grow during the games and noted that Sialkot serves as the center of Pakistan’s sports industry. Pakistan is a young nation, with 64% of the population under the age of 29.

“For investors who come to Pakistan to invest in the sports industry, especially Chinese investors who are already the largest investors in Pakistan, all the facilities and preferential policies that the Pakistani government opens to other industries are also applicable to investing in the sports industry,” the CG continued.

The Pakistani government has given the athletes who will be representing the nation in the Asian Games its full support, realizing the value of sports in fostering national cohesion and growth. The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA), according to Lt. Gen. (R) Syed Arif Hasan, President of POA, have worked relentlessly to make sure that the Pakistani delegation obtains the tools and facilities it needs to compete at the top level.

Lt. Gen (R) Syed Arif Hasan praised China’s prowess in managing large-scale events during a news conference on the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou, which was held in Lahore on September 13. The Asian Games’ first two iterations—in 1990 in Beijing and 2010 in Guangzhou—were great triumphs.
